Corrugator Alignment

Corrugator alignment is critical due to the nature of the process where the product is conveyed and pulled through a web path.

Ideally Machine alignment should be carried out during the machine install ensuring the correct datum and ensuring the machine is perpendicular to the centreline.

Another factor is ensuring the machine is routinely checked each year to prevent mis-alignment from becoming a serious problem.

Alignment Checks

The alignment checks carried out are usually:

  • All splice units being on a common centreline
  • All unwinds being on a common centreline
  • All single facers being on a common centreline
  • Triple stack and glue unit being on a common centreline
  • Bridge unit being on a common centreline
  • Entry and exit drum on the oven being on a common centreline
  • Slitter scorer being on a common centreline
  • Rotary shear being on a common centreline
  • Scrap and Trim unit being on a common centreline
  • Stackers being on a common centreline
  • All units being perpendicular to the centreline
  • All rolls within the units being perpendicular to the centreline
  • All units level
  • All rolls level
  • All rolls and units at the correct elevation
  • Hotplate level checks

By doing these Machine alignment checks we can see clearly; poor web tracking, slack edges/wrinkling, poor corrugation, poor glue application, miss-registration, de-lamination and exactly how your machine is sat, where we can show you on a scaled drawing what the best plan of action should be, and also some advice to further improve your machines capabilities.
