This Year, Our engineers has recently returned from the USA and China, after a leading UK-based Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of advanced composite processing machinery with the installation and alignment of their new automated carbon fibre production line.
The projects involved establishing an accurate datum across the factory floor to map out the machine’s exact centreline and 90° reference lines.
Installing each unit ensuring placement and alignment. Once fitted, we carried out final checks and precision alignment of critical rollers, pull rolls and winders, ensuring all components remained well within the required tolerances.
In carbon fibre processing, even the smallest deviation in roller alignment can introduce uneven web tension. This can lead to material wrinkling, fibre distortion and increased material rejection rates.
By treating machine alignment as a critical reliability factor rather than simply an installation step, we helped ensure these advanced carbon fibre production lines were accurately aligned to support high-speed operation while minimising material wrinkling and product defects, wherever in the world they are installed.
By combining traditional mechanical assembly skills with high-precision optical alignment techniques, we ensure that machinery is geometrically accurate and aligned to the required tolerances.
That is the difference between a production line that suffers from persistent tracking issues and one that is set up to run efficiently from the first turn of the key.
